Principal's Message

 Dear Geiger Elementary School Parents, Guardians and Students:                                                            

Welcome back to the 2022-2023 academic year! I am Dr. Roberta Heyward. I have the pleasure and honor of being the new Principal of Geiger Elementary School. Geiger has a rich tradition of academic excellence and achievement. I am so proud and excited to have been chosen as the new principal. I look forward to partnering with you to ensure that all students are celebrated and supported. Together, we will ensure that we continue the tradition of excellence and community that makes Geiger Elementary School a special place.

The 2022-2023 school term will be the start of my 20th year in education and I have worked within the Fairfield County School District for 14 of those years. During my tenure within Fairfield County School District, I have worked as a Director of School Counseling, Assistant Principal, Lead Teacher, and School Counselor. I have also served as the principal of Felton Laboratory Charter School. I began my teaching career as a 5th and 2nd grade teacher there as well. I believe these positions, experiences, and responsibilities have prepared me for this next journey and will prove beneficial during my administration.  

My priorities as the principal of Geiger Elementary School will be to challenge our students academically, socially, and guide them toward positive choices to develop a student body of good character. My goals for the 2022-2023 school year are to; (1) increase student achievement by developing the whole child, (2) build a collaborative culture, (3) strengthen parent involvement.

While I am honored to be the principal of the school, I view myself as a partner with each of you within this collaborative effort to educate our students. Geiger Elementary School is bursting with great potential to far exceed expectations and produce learners who refuse to be average and demonstrate that they are college and career ready.
